Baby Born With Her Heart OUTSIDE the Chest Survives After Revolutionary Operation

Nothing gives me joy like seeing a baby survive a difficult situation. How they do it, I don't know. New born babies can't express themselves through words, but I can tell you they have the most 'strongest spirit' than any adult.

This story is about a baby girl Audrina Cardenas who was born with a rare congenital disease where her heart formed OUTSIDE the chest, but makes an incredible recovery after a revolutionary surgery, thanks to the team of doctors at Texas Children's Hospital.

The condition - ectopia cordia, which occurs in six to eight of every 1 million babies - claims the lives of 90 per cent of the infants who suffer from it but little fighter Audrina is making strides.

The baby's mum, Ashley, 25, who found out about her daughter's life-threatening condition at 16 weeks,
said she was given three options, each of them difficult in their own way – abort the baby, carry her to term knowing she would die shortly thereafter, or have doctors construct a hole in her unborn baby's chest to make room for the heart.

Audrina still has a battle ahead because she'll need more surgery in coming years to repair defects in her heart, but doctors said the prognosis is good. Although her future prognosis is uncertain, Audrina is currently thriving and making progress each day.

God will keep and perfect you little angel.
