Simi Osomo's £30,000 a year shopping addiction to London

According to report, the 25-year-old Simi Osomo makes six trips to London from Nigeria. She spends about two weeks here and every day she goes shopping. She was spotted at the boutique shop Matches Townhouse in Marylebone with a personal shopper. When asked how much a two-week shopping trip in London costs she makes a bashful face. “Ooh, should I really be saying this? It depends, but most times about £5,000.”

Baby Survived Without Amniotic Fluid

For any pregnant woman, the breaking of the amniotic sac, and the gush that follows, is a signal that her baby is getting ready to be born but in my case the story was different.

I lost my waters when I was just 20 weeks pregnant and from then my nightmare began. I was told by the doctors I would go into labour and loose the baby in 48 hours. I was also told that even if I carried the baby, he will not survive at birth because babies need water for the development of the lungs.

For over 15 weeks I endured the worst, heard all the doom and gloom and my life was full of pain. But with God’s word, by his grace, faith, some wonderful friends, prayers, help, support and the most amazing family in the world, I faced each day with strength.

Chinua Achebe returns with long-awaited memoir

Nigeria's novelist Chinua Achebe, often called the father of modern African literature, released his first major work in years on Thursday with a long-awaited memoir centered on the war that nearly destroyed his nation.

There Was A Country: A Personal History of Biafra" chronicles Achebe's experiences during Nigeria's 1967-1970 civil war, which saw his native eastern region, dominated by the Igbo ethnic group, secede as the Republic of Biafra.

UK's youngest Mum Tressa Middleton speaks out

When Tressa Middleton gave birth in 2006, she made headlines as “Britain’s youngest mum.”
Shockingly, the 12-year-old schoolgirl had fallen pregnant aged just 11 – and later revealed the sickening truth that her brother, Jason, then 16, had raped her and fathered the baby.

BE FAIR TO YOURSELF

Being hard on yourself is not only unhealthy but it brings about stress and just as bitterness, stress can hinder a lot in one’s life. It makes you unfocused and you can’t see anything good around you. Over the years, I discovered that stress doesn’t make us ill most times but we do. One thing that amazes me when I meet people who are facing stress-related problems is that they are all kind people, but somehow when it gets to their own personal life, they give up, moan and groan, demand and wheedle away until someone else deals with the problem, or he or she simply doesn't care. It makes sense when you think about it; weak, cynical, lazy, selfish or manipulative people don’t get swallowed up when faced with stress because they always put themselves first. I’m not suggesting that you become selfish, but its time you asses the way you run your life and look for what defines you. This will make you realize that being kind to yourself is more important than being right. Who else is better qualified than you? Maybe that gives a clue as to why you are in that predicament. “Oh, he’s so nice, generous, always caring, is the typical description of a sufferer from those who know him. In particular, with those who suffer from stress-induced failure, I can tell you they are strong, reliable, diligent and caring on the outside, while on the inside being sensitive, easily hurt by criticism and with a self-esteem that is easy to knock out.

The following was written in answer to a 15- year-old girl’s question, “How can I prepare myself for a fulfilling life?”

One Direction to keep their Name after Legal Dispute

The UK fast growing Boy band One Direction - Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson - formed two years ago for The X Factor, are to keep their name after reaching a deal with a US act with whom they had been locked in a legal dispute.

The What Makes You Beautiful stars - who appeared at the Olympics closing ceremony last month - had faced action from the Californian rock band who had already been using the same name.

The US group was initially claiming more than £600,000 in damages, a share of profits and hoped to get the British quintet to stop using the name.

But now both sides have reached an agreement and the trademark dispute has been "resolved amicably".

The US band are to change their name to Uncharted Shores - the title of one of their two albums.
